Speaking seconds after the race finish, the winner of the 109th GranPiemonte presented by Crédit Agricole Isaac Del Toro said: “When you know the climb, it makes it easier to put in your mind where to attack but it was very tough. My team-mates put a lot of confidence in me. I didn’t have anything to lose. We did all the work the whole day. I tried to go as fast as possible in the steepest part of the climb. I went all in and I had nothing left at the top. If I didn’t go solo, it would have been more difficult to win against riders like Bauke Mollema and Marc Hirschi. Once I was solo I tried to mentalize the win. This year so far has been better than what we expected as a team and myself. It’s been a super good season. It’s just unbelievable how much success we’ve had”.
