A demanding route featuring around ten climbs of varying length, with Manera, Tre Cunei and Roddino among the most notable, before the two ascents of La Morra on the final circuit. Starting from Asti, the race enters a very undulating opening section that ends in Dogliani, with a relentless succession of climbs and descents along hilly, sometimes narrow roads. A less demanding, although still rolling, section follows before the first ascent of La Morra, where the riders enter the 34.7 km final circuit, to be covered once. The final circuit passes within a few hundred metres of the finish in Bra before heading towards Cherasco, approached via the Strada Vecchia climb. The riders then tackle La Morra for a second time before descending towards Verduno and then Pollenzo, leaving the circuit with around 500 metres to go and head towards the finish.
Final kilometres
The final kilometres are flat until around 1,800 metres from the finish. The road then begins to climb gently at 2–3% before, with 1,500 metres to go, the gradient rises to around 5% for one kilometre, with peaks of 8% shortly before the final kilometre. The road gradually levels out before two bends, left and right respectively, at 500 metres and 250 metres from the finish. The final straight is 250 metres long and rises gently at around 1%.
